Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion will introduce Homesteads, a highly anticipated player housing feature. Offering unprecedented customization and convenience, Homesteads will be accessible early in the expansion's storyline.
A sneak peek reveals a robust system boasting over 300 placeable decorations at launch, with plans for 800+ by the expansion's end. These decorations will be acquired through crafting, in-game events, or the cash shop.
Homesteads are instanced, eliminating competition for plots or the risk of eviction. Players enjoy complete freedom in placement, using XYZ axis control to arrange decorations however they wish. Alts and mounts can even reside within the instance, gaining a rest buff. Specialized stands allow for the display of prized armor and weapons. Daily resource gathering is also possible via integrated mine, logging camp, and farm.
Key Homestead features include:
- Instanced Housing: No auctions, plots, or evictions.
- Early Access: Unlocked early in the Janthir Wilds story.
- Unparalleled Customization: Full XYZ axis control for decoration placement.
- Extensive Decoration Library: 300+ at launch, expanding to 800+.
- Mount & Alt Display: Park mounts and alts within the instance for display and resting buffs.
- Resource Gathering: Integrated mine, logging camp, and farm provide daily resources.
- Cosmetic Showcase: Armor and weapon racks for displaying rare equipment.
ArenaNet confidently claims Homesteads represent the most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG, and the initial reveal strongly supports this assertion. The feature launches alongside Janthir Wilds on August 20th.
