Monster Manual Refresh to Bring Thrills in 2024

The highly anticipated 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual is almost here! This final core rulebook in the D&D 2024 revamp, launching February 18th (February 4th for Master Tier D&D Beyond subscribers), boasts over 500 monsters, streamlining gameplay for Dungeon Masters of all experience levels.

Key features include:

  • A Monster Menagerie: More than 500 stat blocks, featuring 85 brand-new creatures, 40 humanoid NPCs, and exciting variations of classic monsters like the primeval owlbear and the terrifying vampire umbral lord with its nightbringer minions. High-level encounters get a boost with revamped Legendary Actions and powerful bosses such as the CR 21 arch-hag and the CR 22 elemental cataclysm.

  • Streamlined Stat Blocks: Improved stat blocks now include habitat, treasure, and gear information, simplifying monster integration into campaigns.

  • Organized for Easy Use: Convenient tables categorize monsters by habitat, creature type, and Challenge Rating (CR), making encounter creation a breeze.

  • DM Guidance: Helpful "How to Use a Monster" and "Running a Monster" sections provide clear guidance on understanding and utilizing stat blocks effectively, regardless of DM experience.

  • Abundant Artwork: Hundreds of new illustrations bring the monsters to life.

While the book provides extensive monster content, it notably omits detailed custom creature creation tools found in the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide. However, the complete contents will be available soon, allowing DMs to quickly assess its value. Digital access for Hero and Master Tier D&D Beyond subscribers begins February 11th and 4th, respectively. Get ready for a monstrous adventure!
