Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
During Bank of America's 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a critically acclaimed action RPG based on the Harry Potter universe, has sold over 24 million copies since its release. Wiedenfels highlighted the sequel's importance, stating, "Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road... there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."
Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously emphasized the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. In an earlier interview with Variety, Haddad noted the game's high replay value and its unique approach to the Harry Potter universe, allowing players to immerse themselves in the world and story as themselves. This resonated strongly with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to become the year's top-selling game, a feat typically achieved by established franchises' sequels.
