Mattel163 is enhancing popular mobile card games to promote inclusivity, launching "Beyond Colors," a colorblind-friendly update for UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile.
Beyond Colors: A More Accessible Gaming Experience
This significant update addresses the needs of approximately 300 million colorblind individuals globally. Traditional card colors are replaced with easily distinguishable shapes (squares, triangles, etc.), ensuring clear card identification for all players.
Enabling Beyond Colors:
Activating this feature is simple. Within each game (UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile), tap your avatar, go to account settings, and select the Beyond Colors deck under card theme options.
Collaboration for Success:
Mattel163 collaborated with colorblind gamers to ensure the new symbols are both effective and user-friendly. This initiative reflects Mattel's wider commitment to accessibility; aiming for 80% of their games to be colorblind-accessible by 2025. The development involved color vision deficiency experts and the gaming community, exploring solutions beyond color differentiation, such as patterns and symbols.
Consistent Design:
The shapes used in Beyond Colors are consistent across all three games, making the transition between them seamless.
