The eerie whispers that have plagued Khazan come to life in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, introducing you to the Blade Phantom. This challenging adversary will push your stamina management and aggression to the limit with its relentless onslaught. It marks your first multi-phase boss encounter in the game.
The battle kicks off in a castle with floors awash in a crimson liquid. Be prepared for the Blade Phantom's varied attacks:
A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being a delayed attack.
A three-hit combo of two punches followed by a downward kick.
A four-hit combo that starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
A three-hit combo featuring flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you need to dodge.
Beyond these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, slamming it down to cause damage and spawn red spikes. If it opts for the spear, brace for a quick throw and a subsequent teleporting smash. With a blade in hand, expect a swift six-hit combo. The Phantom may also vanish and dash unpredictably across the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks allows you to parry or dodge effectively, creating openings to attack and reduce the boss's stamina for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you deplete about half of its health, triggering the transition to the second phase.
Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom unleashing four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Evade the spear's impact zone and prepare for a leaping swipe. This sequence is followed by three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.
While the Phantom retains many of its earlier moves, new elements include claw attacks, a spear thrust followed by another strike, and rapid dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when armed with the greatsword, watch for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to successfully parry this move, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
Strike the Blade Phantom when its stamina is low, and initiate the Brutal Attack just as the window is about to close to maximize damage output. Victory over the Blade Phantom rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, various Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
