Secure a Free Bow Early in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Early-game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 can be tough. Henry starts with limited weaponry, making early combat challenging. Fortunately, a free and readily accessible bow, the Dogwood Village Bow, can significantly improve your chances of survival. This guide shows you how to obtain it.

After parting ways with Hans, you'll need to find a way into the wedding. While you can pursue work as a blacksmith or miller, the blacksmith's location conveniently marks the bow's whereabouts on your map. Even if you choose the miller path, this shortcut remains available.
Locate the bow in a small, easily overlooked training area north of Troskowitz. Follow the western road out of Troskowitz, then north. At the road fork, turn right into a cluster of trees. The training area is hidden within.

You'll find the Dogwood Village Bow leaning against a tree trunk near a target with arrows (grab those for free ammo!). There are also some brew and mushrooms nearby to collect. Once you have the bow, resume your quest.
Alternative Acquisition: Purchasing the Bow
While purchasable from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov, the Dogwood Village Bow isn't the most powerful option. Considering its proximity to the free version, purchasing it is generally not recommended. Vitek does, however, offer stronger weapons, and you can supplement your funds via alchemy.
Ranged Combat Advantage
Having a ranged weapon, regardless of whether it's the free bow or a later purchase, offers a significant advantage, particularly for players who prefer ranged combat over melee. The combat system in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 remains similar to its predecessor.
Next Steps
After acquiring the bow, you can proceed with the blacksmith job (sleep and save after forging a sword), or continue the main quest with the miller. Either way, you'll be better equipped for the challenges ahead.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
