No Man's Sky: A Comprehensive Guide to Obtaining Solanium

Solanium, a valuable resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusively found on planets with specific climates. This guide details how to acquire Solanium through gathering, farming, and crafting.

Locating Solanium

Unlike Frost Crystals, Solanium thrives on hot and arid planets. Before landing, use your starship scanner to identify planets with descriptions like "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched." The scanner will also indicate Solanium as a resource.

Upon landing, deploy your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines – tall, rock-like structures with glowing vines. These are abundant in specific areas. Remember, you'll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. While on these planets, consider gathering Phosphorus, a key ingredient in Solanium crafting.

Farming Solanium

Once you've progressed the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, you can cultivate Solar Vines at your base. Use a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome, planting Solar Vines with 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. On hot planets, direct ground planting is possible. Allow approximately 16 real-time hours for growth before harvesting.

Crafting Solanium

Several Refiner recipes produce Solanium, most requiring Phosphorus (often obtained from hot planets). Alternatively, purchase Phosphorus from traders or Galactic Trade Terminals. Here are the Solanium crafting recipes:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all recipes, including those using Sulphurine, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. To consistently supply Sulphurine, focus on gathering ample Phosphorus and establishing a base farm.
