Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is set to roll out a groundbreaking experimental feature with Marvel Rivals' Season 2, aimed at improving the game's stability and optimizing memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the Switch Shader Compilation Mode promises a better gaming experience, especially for players with lower RAM configurations or those concerned about FPS drops.
In a detailed blog post on their official website, Marvel Rivals addressed player concerns about performance issues such as stutters and crashes due to high memory consumption during gameplay. The blog explains, "To address the memory overload, we're unleashing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can activate this feature through the PC launcher." This feature is particularly recommended for players with 16GB of RAM or less.
Upon activation, the game will benefit from the following improvements:
- The shader compilation process will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
- Game memory usage is dramatically reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes triggered by memory shortages.
However, the developers have highlighted some known issues with this feature. For instance, at the beginning of each match, some materials may render abnormally for a few frames before normalizing. Additionally, there may be some initial stutters, but these should resolve quickly, allowing for a smooth gameplay experience for the remainder of the match.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Twitch Drops
Marvel Rivals kicks off Season 2 with an exciting Twitch Drops campaign running from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. To claim the exclusive rewards, players need to link their Marvel Rivals accounts with their Twitch accounts and watch any Marvel Rivals streams with Drops enabled.
The rewards are tiered based on watch time, offering a variety of in-game bonuses to enhance your gaming experience.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Going Live Soon
In the latest Dev Vision, Marvel Rivals teased fans with a sneak peek of Season 2's Hellfire Gala and announced their strategy to shorten seasons, introducing one new hero each month. The anticipation builds as Marvel Rivals gears up for Season 2 with maintenance scheduled to start on April 11 at 9:00 UTC, expected to last approximately 2 to 3 hours.
The upcoming patch will introduce Emma Frost as a new playable character, complete with her X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins. Players can also explore a new Domination map, Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, and enjoy a fresh battle pass filled with 10 new sets of heroic costumes.
