Konami hints at a potential next-gen release of Metal Gear Solid 4, fueling speculation about its inclusion in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami Teases MGS4 for PS5 and Xbox
MGS Master Collection Vol. 2: MGS4 Remake on the Horizon?
Konami producer Noriaki Okamura recently spoke with IGN, dropping hints about a possible Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake within Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside next-gen ports. While acknowledging the intense fan interest in bringing the PS3 exclusive to modern platforms (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC), Okamura remained elusive about concrete details.
Okamura stated, "We're definitely aware of the MGS4 situation. With Vol. 1 covering MGS 1-3...well, you can probably guess! We're still internally deciding the future of the series. Sorry, no reveals yet, but stay tuned!"
The possibility of MGS4 joining Master Collection Vol. 2 has been a major topic of discussion among fans. The successful launch of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 (featuring remastered versions of the first three games for PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC) significantly boosted expectations for an MGS4 port.
Further fueling the speculation, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline last year, leading many to believe these titles would comprise Master Collection Vol. 2. This was further reported by IGN, although Konami has yet to offer official confirmation.
Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter (Solid Snake's English voice actor) hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November.
Despite the mounting evidence, Konami has remained tight-lipped regarding the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2 and any concrete plans for an MGS4 remake. The wait continues.
