This concludes my retro game eShop series, as suitable console selections dwindle. Saving the best for last: the PlayStation. Sony's debut console exceeded expectations, boasting a legendary game library, with titles still re-released today. Here are ten personal favorites (in no particular order):
Klonoa: The Door to Phantomile – Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series ($39.99)

Klonoa, a standout 2.5D platformer, follows a charming, floppy-eared creature through a dream world to thwart a looming threat. It features vibrant visuals, tight gameplay, memorable bosses, and a surprisingly impactful narrative. While the PlayStation 2 sequel is slightly weaker, the collection is a must-have.
Final Fantasy VII ($15.99)

A landmark JRPG, Final Fantasy VII captivated the Western audience, propelling Square Enix and the PlayStation to new heights. While the remake exists, the original remains a classic, showcasing its impact despite its dated polygon graphics.
Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version ($19.99)

Metal Gear Solid revitalized a dormant franchise. Though later entries became more eccentric, the original stands as a thrilling, action-packed adventure, less philosophical and more reminiscent of a G.I. Joe episode. The PlayStation 2 sequels are also available on Switch.
G-Darius HD ($29.99)

G-Darius successfully transitioned Taito's classic shooter into 3D. Its charming, chunky polygons, vibrant colors, unique enemy capture mechanic, and inventive bosses make for a compelling experience.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition ($19.99)

While overshadowed by Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross is a visually stunning RPG with a large, albeit unevenly developed, cast of characters and one of the best video game soundtracks ever created.
Mega Man X4 – Mega Man X Legacy Collection ($19.99)

Among the Mega Man X series, X4 stands out for its polished design and balanced gameplay. The Legacy Collection offers a chance to experience this and other titles in the series.
Tomba! Special Edition ($19.99)

A unique platformer with adventure game elements, Tomba! from the creator of Ghosts ‘n Goblins, offers a deceptively challenging experience.
Grandia – Grandia HD Collection ($39.99)

Though originally a SEGA Saturn title, the PlayStation port forms the basis of this HD release. Grandia, spiritually akin to Lunar, offers a bright, cheerful adventure with a satisfying combat system.
Tomb Raider – Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft ($29.99)

This collection includes the first three Tomb Raider games, showcasing Lara Croft's early adventures. The original game is arguably the strongest, focusing more on tomb raiding than action.
moon ($18.99)

A unique, deconstructed RPG, moon offers an unconventional, sometimes challenging, adventure with a thought-provoking message.
