How To Fix Marvel Rivals Compiling Shaders Slow on Launch

Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing extended shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a workaround to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve a period of loading. However, Marvel Rivals PC players are encountering unusually long shader compilation times, sometimes lasting several minutes.

Shaders are crucial programs managing visual elements like color, lighting, and shadows in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. While the problem isn't inherently a user error, a community-discovered solution exists.

A user on the Marvel Rivals subreddit proposed a fix involving Nvidia control panel settings. Here's the solution:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Locate and open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Navigate to the global settings and find the "Shader Cache Size" option.
  3. Set a Lower Value: Set this value to a size less than or equal to your VRAM. The available options are typically 5 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB; select the closest value to your VRAM.

This adjustment reportedly reduces shader compilation time to mere seconds and resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While this is a temporary fix, NetEase Games hasn't yet acknowledged the problem. To avoid lengthy load times, consider implementing this solution until a permanent patch is released.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
