Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, a mobile RPG from Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games, is shutting down its global service. This news comes just over a year after the game's global launch in January 2024, a surprisingly short lifespan for a mobile title. The Japanese version, however, launched earlier in September 2023 and remains operational, even gearing up for its 1.5th-anniversary celebration in March 2025.
Atelier Resleriana Global Service End Date
Ironically, the global server closure is scheduled for March 28th, 2025—the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary. Global players will conclude their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players delve into Chapter 22 (Part 2).
In-game purchases are already disabled, but players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems until the shutdown. Koei Tecmo promises continued new content and events leading up to the closure. This adds another layer of irony, considering the global version just celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th.
Reasons for Global Server Closure
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory standard for players as the reason for the shutdown. The game struggled to gain traction, facing criticism almost immediately after launch. Players voiced concerns about the gacha system, power creep, and overall gameplay, despite praising the main characters. These factors ultimately led to the decision to end the global service.
The game is still available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to play before the servers close. For those seeking a different mobile experience, consider checking out the current Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year 2025 event.
