Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a brand-new animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting news arrives as a celebratory gift for the franchise's 20th anniversary.
Created by original series masterminds Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series. The story follows a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world drastically altered by a cataclysmic event. In this perilous era, the Avatar's title is far from a blessing; instead, she's seen as a harbinger of destruction. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.
DiMartino and Konietzko shared their enthusiasm, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
The series will be structured into two 13-episode seasons, Book 1 and Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating Seven Havens alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details are yet to be revealed.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also hard at work on a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026. This film will depict an older, more mature Aang on a new adventure.
The 20th-anniversary celebrations extend beyond Seven Havens, encompassing a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game, offering fans a plethora of ways to celebrate this beloved franchise.
