This update is only available to those who have access to the Patch 8 stress testing program and can be downloaded directly to your console. Players not enrolled in the test will need to wait for the full public release of Patch 8 to experience all the new features and improvements.
Key enhancements include:
- Containers now retain their contents when destroyed.
- Photo Mode screenshot functionality has been optimized for Steam Deck users.
- More responsive character posing mechanics.
- Improved cross-play performance.
- Tooltip values for Booming Blade have been updated when cast.
- Several critical crash-related issues have been addressed.

As one of the last major feature updates before Larian concludes its journey in Faerûn, Patch 8 is expected to be one of the largest releases yet—hence the need for extensive stress testing. Among the additions coming with this patch are full platform cross-play support, over 12 exciting new subclasses—including the Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter—and the long-awaited Photo Mode.
Photo Mode Offers Maximum Customization
While the official launch of Patch 8 is still underway, players can already get a detailed preview of how to fully utilize the upcoming Photo Mode through an exclusive sneak peek video. As stated by Larian, the goal is to help players "get the absolute most out of Photo Mode from day one."
Photo Mode can be accessed almost anytime and anywhere—whether you're mid-adventure, engaged in combat, or hosting a multiplayer session. You can pose companions and characters exactly how you want, with or without other party members. Want to add more flair? Throw in extra elements like a jumping frog that dominates the frame. The free-moving camera adds another layer of flexibility, letting you capture every scene from the perfect angle.
After setting up your shot, apply post-processing effects, stickers, or frames to give your image a personal touch. However, please note that during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, only post-processing adjustments are allowed—posing controls will be temporarily disabled.
This preview is just the beginning. Larian also plans to release a follow-up tips and tricks guide to further inspire creative expression among players eager to master the art of Photo Mode.
