While monsters typically prefer the untamed wilderness, their territorial instincts sometimes lead them to attack nearby villages. In Monster Hunter Wilds, you'll face off against a particularly aggressive foe: the rampaging Alpha Doshaguma.

Doshaguma: A Guide to Conquest
Known Habitats: Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Ruins of Wyveria
Breakable Parts: Tail and Forelegs
Recommended Elemental Attacks: Fire and Lightning
Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (2x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)
Effective Items: Flash Pod, Shock Trap, Pitfall Trap
Utilizing Flash Pods
Despite its immense size, the Doshaguma boasts surprising agility. Its quick dashes and jumps can make it a challenging target, especially for melee users. A Flash Pod provides a temporary solution, blinding the beast for a precious few seconds, creating an opening for attacks or even a daring mount.
Strategic Targeting: Legs and Head
Focus your attacks on the Doshaguma's forelegs; their 3-star weakness makes them highly vulnerable. While the hind legs possess a 2-star weakness, they're less effective targets. The head also offers a 3-star weakness, making it a prime area to concentrate your damage. Attacking the tail, though less damaging, is worthwhile as it's breakable, yielding valuable monster parts.
Elemental Advantage: Fire and Lightning
In Monster Hunter Wilds, fire and lightning are your best elemental bets against the Doshaguma. Bowgun users should prioritize Flaming and Thunder ammo. Equipping fire-enhancing decorations on your weapons further amplifies your damage output. Fire attacks are most effective on the head and torso, while lightning strikes are best directed at the head.
Blastblight: A Dangerous Ailment
Beyond its physical attacks, the Doshaguma inflicts Blastblight, a status effect that can lead to a devastating self-explosion if the gauge fills or you receive a heavy blow. Counter this with Nulberries, Deodorant, or by performing up to three consecutive dodge rolls.
Environmental Traps: Turning the Tables
Don't underestimate the power of environmental traps. The Doshaguma's roaming grounds often contain natural traps you can exploit. Remember to sheath your weapon before using your slinger and ensure the monster is positioned directly above the trap before activating it.

Capturing the Doshaguma

For a different challenge, consider capturing the Doshaguma alive. Reduce its HP to 20% or less, then strategically place a Shock or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto the trap using Luring Ammo or meat bait if it doesn't approach on its own. Once trapped, quickly administer tranquilizer ammo; multiple shots may be necessary to subdue it.
With these strategies, you'll be well-prepared to hunt or capture the Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds. Remember to enjoy a hearty meal beforehand to maximize your buffs! Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
