How to Complete In Vino Veritas in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Some side quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* are more enjoyable than others, but they can also be confusing or frustrating at times. The quest "In Vino Veritas" is one such example, with multiple small steps and even a side quest within a side quest. Here's how to navigate through it successfully.

Speak with Casper and Havel

To start "In Vino Veritas," find Casper Rudolf by his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Enter through the east gate and head straight to locate him. Casper is curious about the secret behind the monks' exceptional wine, but you'll need to take several steps before uncovering it. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and the book he left with Adleta, which will influence your approach to the first part of the quest involving Havel.

If you decide to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg’s inner wall during the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta often spends her time. Collect five Marigolds before you go. Try to find Adleta before her brother Hugo arrives, or speak with Hugo to gain his permission to talk to her. During your conversation, be kind and mention you need the book for Casper. You can either pass a skill check to persuade her to give you the book or offer the Marigolds as a gift in exchange for it. Once you have the book, read it from your inventory.

Alternatively, if you choose to bypass the book and go straight to Havel, locate him at his inn in Kuttenberg City. Enhance your drinking skills and wear an outfit that boosts your Charisma to at least 18. Engage Havel in conversation and select these dialogue options:

• Germany. Let’s do it.
• That’s a very fine gift.
• Steinberger.
• It’s missing ginger.

These choices will impress Havel, leading him to reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Return to Casper with this information.

Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient

Next, head to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg and speak with the recruiter to initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While completing this side quest isn't necessary, starting it allows you to freely explore the vineyard without being considered a trespasser. Inside the vineyard, find Jerome, usually seated on a bench near the main building.

Once inside the main building, sneak to the left and enter the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and find the Sulphur Wicks, which are essential for Casper. For additional Groschen, visit the garden behind the main building and collect five seedlings before leaving.

If you choose to complete "Under the Straw Hat," engage in tasks such as removing plants around the vines and moving sacks. After completing enough work, report to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and seedlings, if you have them.

Completing "In Vino Veritas" allows you to progress to other quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, or you might prefer to spend time collecting badges and dice.
