After escaping Fort Joy and removing the Source collar in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you're aboard the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance. Your goal: get this unconventional vessel sailing. The helm is useless; you'll need to uncover a unique method. Explore, talk to companions and NPCs, and gather clues to control the ship. The key lies in accessing Magister Dallis' cabin and utilizing the Ancient Songbook. This guide outlines the steps to get the ship moving.

Investigate Dead Bodies On The Ship

The solution to sailing Lady Vengeance is a puzzle with pieces scattered throughout. Begin by searching the bodies of the magisters and gheists on deck. A dead magister holds a Sodden Diary containing a password for a stateroom door.

You can also obtain the stateroom door password by successfully completing a skill check.

Besides the password, you'll need a Strange Gem to interact with the Portside Stateroom door.

A magic mirror, located south of the stateroom doors, allows unlimited respeccing of your character and companions. Use it to boost skills if needed for the password check.

Access Magister Dallis' Stateroom

Use the password to enter the ship's quarters. Interact with the NPCs and recruit companions. West of the cabins lies Bishop Alexander (in a Source collar). East are the stateroom doors.

Examine Bishop Alexander's regalia to find the Strange Gem. Head east to the stateroom doors.

The southern door recognizes the Strange Gem. Use the "Fortitude" password (from the Sodden Diary) to unlock it, granting access to Magister Dallis' cabin. The cabin also contains a hidden hatch with two gheists and a Teleportation Prism.

Locate the Ancient Empire Songbook

Inside Magister Dallis' cabin is Tarquin. Talk to Dallis and exhaust his dialogue before searching. The Ancient Empire Songbook rests on a pedestal. Reading it will trigger a comment from your character.

Speak to all NPCs before moving the ship, as interactions will become unavailable once it sets sail.

Setting Sail: Awakening the Lady Vengeance

After reading the songbook, find Malady on deck. Tell her about the book; she'll ask you to sing the song. Go to the westernmost point of the deck and interact with the dragon figurine. Choose the option to sing the song. Lady Vengeance will respond, and you can prepare for the next stage of your journey.

Be prepared for a challenging battle with powerful magisters immediately after setting sail. Ensure your party is well-equipped and has sufficient companions.
