Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This update introduces a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the God of War series.
In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony outlined the various elements included in the God of War 20th anniversary celebrations. The Dark Odyssey collection stands out as a highlight, offering a free update on March 20 for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC. This update brings a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic to the game, enhancing the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology.
The update includes cosmetic sets for Atreus and Freya, along with a variety of new looks for the player's shields and weapons. However, the centerpiece of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the new appearance and armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a skin previously exclusive to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. This coveted set can be claimed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode of God of War Ragnarök post-update. Additionally, the update introduces the ability to customize Kratos' weapons' appearance without affecting their abilities.
