In Hyper Light Breaker, choosing the right weapon can significantly enhance your gameplay. Every player starts with a basic loadout, but as you delve deeper into the game, you'll discover a range of equipment tailored to your preferred playstyle.
Hyper Light Breaker blends elements of roguelikes and extraction games, creating a unique gameplay experience. Understanding how to acquire new weapons is key to mastering the game. Here's your guide on how to expand your arsenal in Hyper Light Breaker.
Where to Get New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

To get your hands on new gear, start by exploring Overgrowths. While you'll naturally stumble upon new items during your run, if you're specifically hunting for weapons, keep an eye out for the sword or pistol icons on the map. These icons mark the locations of Blades and Rails, respectively.
Blades are your melee weapons, each featuring unique movesets and special abilities. Rails, on the other hand, are your ranged weapons, distinguished by their diverse functions. Both types come in various rarities, with gold being the most coveted. As with most loot-based games, the rarer the weapon, the better its stats.
When you find a weapon in an Overgrowth, you can either equip it immediately or send it to your personal stash by selecting the Cache button. You can then equip these cached weapons for your next run by adjusting your loadout before setting out.
How to Get New Starting Weapons

Beyond the weapons you find in Overgrowths, you can also acquire new starting gear by visiting the merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, you'll only have access to the Blades merchant. To unlock the Rails merchant, you'll need to gather enough materials to repair their shop.
Keep in mind that merchants have a limited stock of items. Their inventory refreshes over time, so if you don't find something you like on your first visit, be sure to check back later to see what new items are available.
How to Upgrade Weapons

To enhance your weapons, you can upgrade them at the merchants in the Outpost. However, you'll first need to unlock the Upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This is done by collecting Golden Rations, a scarce resource you can find while exploring or by resetting cycles. Given their rarity, use Golden Rations judiciously.
Be aware that if you die during a run, all equipped gear will lose durability, represented by a pip on the durability bar under their icons. Repeated deaths can lead to your gear breaking, so manage your equipment wisely.
