Max has unveiled the first trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, strengthening its ties to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene.
The preview begins with Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a rather dismissive interview with John Cena's Peacemaker for a potential spot on a superhero team. Needless to say, the meeting does not go smoothly, leaving Peacemaker looking dejected as he storms out.
This offers new glimpses at several supporting characters slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 premieres on August 21, following the July 11 release of Superman, which serves as the third official entry in the DCU after the Creature Commandos TV series launched last year.
This rebooted cinematic universe from Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran departs from the critically panned DC Extended Universe, which featured films like Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, though certain elements will carry over.
Peacemaker is a prime example, as its first season debuted within the now-defunct DCEU, while its second season will be part of the new DCU.
Gunn has previously noted that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what transitions from the DCEU to the DCU are still unclear. He has confirmed the return of the entire core cast, with John Cena leading alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.
Gunn has also stated that the series will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline directly impacting Peacemaker.
