The controversy erupted following a 32-minute video released by Asmongold, where he discussed allegations of "cheating" by Musk. Rumors suggested that Musk might have either purchased a high-level character or employed someone to level it up in-game. Asmongold's video highlighted the significant time commitment required to reach level 97, raising questions about how Musk could manage his responsibilities at SpaceX, Tesla, and X while simultaneously dedicating the necessary time to level up his character.

Gamers also noted that during Musk's streams, he appeared unfamiliar with the game mechanics, which seemed inconsistent with someone who had supposedly leveled a character from zero to 97.

Musk responded to Asmongold's video by suggesting that he, too, "needs to coordinate with the boss." He also implied that Asmongold had to consult with a team of editors before publishing content on the X network.

Asmongold countered by clarifying that he does not have a boss and that the editors he works with are employed by him. This arrangement, he explained, is a standard practice among many YouTube and Twitch streamers, enabling them to concentrate on content creation while delegating editing tasks.

According to Asmongold, Musk's remarks only underscored his lack of understanding about the behind-the-scenes processes of content creation.
