Jak & Daxter: Precursor Basin Power Cells Guide

Jun 07,2026 Author: Max

After conquering your first full Zoomer challenge in Fire Canyon, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy presents a comparatively safer vehicle mission in Precursor Basin. While less life-threatening for our heroes, this area proves even more challenging than Fire Canyon with its demanding objectives.

Precursor Basin tests your driving skills with multiple trials - from breaking race records to navigating obstacle rings and practicing eco-powered botany. Completionists aiming for all Trophies must perfect their Zoomer handling to uncover every hidden collectible.

Round Up Those Pesky Moles

Begin with this relaxing starter challenge: guide the wandering blind moles back to their burrows using your Zoomer. Bump into them gently to startle them toward their holes, utilizing quick hops for sharp turns during pursuit. After returning four moles, visit the Rock Village Geologist for your Power Cell reward - but consider completing other nearby tasks first.

Capture the Elusive Flying Lurkers

Sharing space with the moles, these winged foes flee at your approach. Their erratic flight patterns demand strategic interception, particularly around sharp turns where you can cut them off (refer to images above). The final Lurker drops a valuable Power Cell upon defeat.

Smash the Gorge Speed Record

The Village Gambler needs you to break the 45-second record on this technical course near the Basin entrance. While challenging, mastering these techniques makes victory achievable:

Initial Lurker collisions demonstrate valuable aerial boosts, while threading between pillars collects Blue Eco for temporary speed bursts - though watch for the immediate hairpin turn. Use hop-turns to efficiently scale slopes and navigate moving piston obstacles.

The pit section requires perfect timing - hop at the edge while executing a 180° turn to land facing forward. Subsequent paths offer risk/reward choices: skilled players can attempt difficult jumps for faster times, while cautious drivers take safer routes.

Success earns another Power Cell from the Gambler, with an additional Trophy awaiting those who beat 40 seconds.

Lake Power Cell Retrieval

Visible but tricky to reach, this floating prize requires precision driving. Starting from the familiar mole-chasing slope, navigate narrow bridges and timed jumps across interconnected islands (images 2-4). The final approach demands maximum speed when leaping toward the Precursor Orb.

Purge the Dark Eco Corruption

A welcome breather after intense driving, this task involves charging with Green Eco and cleansing infected flora. Maintain momentum to prevent regrowth, utilizing hop maneuvers for better control and eco vents for refills. Expect multiple attempts before earning your Power Cell.

This timed ring sequence activates progressively, with the purple variant being the easier option. Key moments include daring mid-air jumps off natural bridges (shown above) and precise hole avoidance maneuvers - complete the course successfully to claim your reward.

The advanced blue ring course begins near the lake slope but diverges leftward. Notable challenges include:

Pillar navigation requiring tight circular driving, followed by high-altitude ring clearance achieved through strategic rock bouncing (image sequence).

Post-transpad maneuvering demands careful hill jumps near previously healed plants. Subsequent crossroads test directional memory with delayed ring appearances.

The final stretch rewards careful path navigation with a satisfying Power Cell acquisition from the highest slope.

Scout Fly Collection Guide

Seven hidden Scout Flies await discovery in Precursor Basin:

  1. Near Mole Hole (shown above)
  2. Atop initial slope
  3. Beyond narrow bridge (near purple ring location)
  4. Right side of raised platform
  5. Below through central hole
  6. Across three-island hop sequence
  7. Adjacent to first Blue Precursor Ring

Collect all seven for an additional Power Cell reward.
