Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest adventure game, Universe for Sale, is now available. Akupara Games has already released several captivating titles this year, including The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti.
Is the Universe Actually for Sale?
The game unfolds on a Jupiter space station, a bizarre, atmospheric bazaar shrouded in acid rain and mystery. Orangutans with surprising intellect work the docks, and cultists barter flesh for spiritual enlightenment.
The universe itself is for sale, thanks to Lila, a woman with the unusual ability to create universes from her hand.
The game begins with you, the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment, landing in a ramshackle mining colony shantytown. The setting is both unsettling and captivating.
Exploring the colony's quirky tea shops and other peculiar establishments, you eventually encounter Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop. Lila's enigmatic nature gradually unfolds as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the gameplay.
Playing as Lila involves a mini-game of universe creation, mixing and matching ingredients to produce visually stunning worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative develops as you progress, prompting speculation about the overarching plot. Every character, whether human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world invites thorough exploration.
