Warhorse Studios has officially confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD 2) will launch completely DRM-free. This follows online speculation and inquiries from gamers about the game's use of digital rights management (DRM) technology.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Dev Clarifies: No DRM
No Denuvo, No DRM at All

Addressing concerns raised during a recent Twitch showcase, Warhorse Studios PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated that KCD 2 will not utilize any DRM system, including Denuvo. He clarified that previous discussions and misinformation had led to confusion, but the final decision is clear: a DRM-free experience. Stolz-Zwilling appealed to fans to cease inquiries about DRM, emphasizing that any information contrary to this official statement is inaccurate.

The decision to forgo DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance issues and negative impacts on gameplay often associated with such technologies, particularly Denuvo. While Denuvo serves as anti-piracy software, its implementation has historically drawn criticism from some gamers. Denuvo product manager Andreas Ullmann has acknowledged this negative perception, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game, set in medieval Bohemia, follows Henry, a blacksmith-in-training, as he confronts a devastating event in his village. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
