Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the Dead by Daylight survivor roster on July 16th, Behaviour Interactive announced. This highly anticipated addition follows recent additions like Vecna and Chucky, solidifying Dead by Daylight's reputation for featuring beloved characters from across gaming and pop culture.
While an official release date is confirmed, a gameplay trailer showcasing Lara's unique skills and perks remains elusive. PC players on Steam will gain early access via a public test build. Behaviour Interactive describes Lara as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of navigating treacherous adventures. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot.
Lara Croft's Dead by Daylight Debut: July 16th
The Lara Croft announcement was part of Dead by Daylight's 8th-anniversary livestream, which also revealed exciting future content: a new 2v8 mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors; a Frank Stone spin-off project in collaboration with Supermassive Games (developers of The Quarry); and a highly anticipated Castlevania chapter later this year.
Lara Croft's appearance in Dead by Daylight coincides with renewed interest in the Tomb Raider franchise. Earlier this year, Aspyr released a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy, and Tomb Raider: Legend received a PS5 port (though reception has been mixed). Furthermore, a new animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, starring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice, is slated for October 2024.
