Marvel Rivals Fans Propose Enhanced Proficiency Reward System

Summary

  • Fans criticize Marvel Rivals for difficulty in obtaining nameplates without spending money.
  • A Reddit user proposed converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards to address the issue.
  • Players argue that Proficiency rewards should include nameplates to showcase skill and mastery.

Marvel Rivals enthusiasts are voicing their concerns about the game's reward system, particularly the challenge of acquiring nameplates without dipping into their wallets. Launched in December 2024, Marvel Rivals introduced its Season 0 cycle with a modest array of rewards and skins. However, the recently released Season 1 update has significantly expanded the battle pass, offering ten new character skins and various customization items, including nameplates, sprays, and emotes. Yet, it's the nameplates that have sparked a lively discussion among players.

On the Marvel Rivals fan hub on Reddit, user DaPurpleDerpleOf critiqued the game's approach to distributing Lore Banners and nameplates. Nameplates, a key way for players to stand out, often require a grind to unlock through the battle pass, and some are only available for purchase with real money. DaPurpleDerpleOf suggested a straightforward solution: transform Lore Banners into nameplate rewards, noting that Lore Banners often have more appealing designs.

In addition to the battle pass, Marvel Rivals offers a Proficiency Points system. Players earn these points by engaging with the game's characters, dealing damage, and defeating opponents. While the Proficiency system already unlocks various rewards, fans believe that nameplates should also be part of this system. One player commented, "Proficiency rewards are super lacking. I hope they add more tiers and rewards down the line," while another described adding nameplates as a "no-brainer." Including nameplates in Proficiency rewards would not only enhance the system but also allow players to showcase their mastery of different characters.

Marvel Rivals' Season 1 update, which began recently, has introduced substantial changes to the game, including the addition of Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four, along with new maps and modes. The rest of The Fantastic Four team is slated to join later, with Season 1 expected to continue until mid-April. These updates and player feedback highlight the ongoing evolution and community engagement within Marvel Rivals.
