Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month

In a move to keep the game dynamic and engaging, NetEase has announced that starting from Season 3, Marvel Rivals will introduce new heroes every month. This shift from the original plan of releasing two heroes per season was revealed by Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4. Alongside this, each season will now be shortened from three months to two.
Guangguang elaborated on this change, stating, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month." This decision was influenced by community feedback on social media, aiming to maintain the game's excitement since its December launch. The developers are also exploring the addition of new modes to enhance the gaming experience further, potentially leading to the introduction of up to 12 new heroes annually.
Balancing these frequent releases will be a significant challenge, but Guangguang assures that the team is prepared. In a recent interview with PC Gamer on March 14, he highlighted the team's reliance on key metric data such as pick rates, win rates, and ability stats to ensure fair gameplay.

Season 2 Details and Future Plans

Season 2, dubbed the Hellfire Gala, introduces a new hero, Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds. The season's theme revolves around a grand celebration on the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa, where Marvel Heroes are invited by Emma Frost. The trailer for the upcoming season showcases new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal wear. The Hellfire Gala is inspired by Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a society of the wealthy and influential.

Following Emma Frost's debut, Season 2.5 will feature the arrival of Ultron, a notorious Marvel villain. The Hellfire Gala trailer hints at Ultron's disruptive entrance with a swarm of robots, setting the stage for the Age of Ultron.
Thor’s Lord of Asgard and Hawkeye’s Ronin Skins Available Now!
Marvel Rivals has also released new skins for Thor and Hawkeye, available as of April 4. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin draws inspiration from his revival by Odin in the comics, while Hawkeye's Ronin skin reflects his time as a vigilante samurai. The Thor Rune King bundle includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. Meanwhile, the Hawkeye Ronin bundle offers the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
