Second Dinner, a studio based in California, developed the popular game Marvel Snap, which is published by Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Unfortunately, due to the ban on several ByteDance apps, including CapCut and Lemon8, Marvel Snap was also removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This sudden discontinuation has left many players frustrated, especially those encountering authorization issues. However, PC users can still access the game via Steam. The developers at Second Dinner expressed their surprise at the incident and are actively working to bring the game back online. In an official statement from Platform X, they assured players:
"Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress."
A particularly aggravating aspect of this situation is that players received no prior warning, leading many to continue spending money on in-game purchases unaware of the impending lockout. While Marvel Snap was affected, not all ByteDance apps faced the same fate. For instance, Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.
In other Marvel Snap news, we previously covered the introduction of the ongoing card Moonstone. This card is a significant addition to the game's Ongoing archetype, which is currently in high demand. Moonstone, with her 4/6 stats, can replicate the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. Given the abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards available in Marvel Snap, Moonstone's ability to copy these effects for free makes her a potentially game-changing card. While most low-cost ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent primarily boost power, Moonstone can quickly become highly effective by leveraging these effects without any additional cost.
