The much-anticipated dinosaur survival game, Ark 2, is back in the spotlight following concerns about its development status. Developer Studio Wildcard has announced a new expansion for Ark: Survival Ascended, titled Ark: Lost Colony, which not only reinvigorates interest in the franchise but also sets the stage for the sequel.

Ark: Lost Colony marks the first original expansion pack for the Ark: Survival Ascended remake. The reveal trailer, crafted by the renowned anime studio Mappa (known for hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man), features voiceover work by Michelle Yeoh, who returns to her role as Mei Yin from Ark: The Animated Series.

Studio Wildcard has promised that *Ark: Lost Colony* will include several cinematic anime sequences produced by Mappa. Here's the official synopsis:

Studio Wildcard has stated that Ark: Lost Colony directly links the storylines of the Extinction and Genesis expansions and paves the way for the narrative of Ark 2.

Ark 2, powered by Unreal Engine 5, is the sequel to the massively successful Ark: Survival Evolved. Initially announced with a cameo from Vin Diesel at The Game Awards 2020 and slated for a 2022 release, it faced multiple delays. The game was first pushed back to 2023 and then again to late 2024, set to launch as an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive, available day-one on Game Pass, and on PC via Steam and Windows.

Despite Studio Wildcard's assurance in December 2023 that *Ark 2* was on track for a late 2024 release, the game missed this target, raising concerns among fans. However, the announcement of *Ark: Lost Colony* in March 2025 offers reassurance that *Ark 2* remains in development, though no new release window for the sequel was provided.

For Ark: Lost Colony, more concrete details are available. Pre-orders will start in June 2025, granting immediate access to exclusive preview gameplay content. The full release is scheduled for November 2025, with Ark: Lost Colony priced at $29.99 for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
