Microsoft has unveiled a preview version of Edge Game Assist, an innovative in-game browser designed to enhance the PC gaming experience. Addressing the common frustration of alt-tabbing or using phones during gameplay, Edge Game Assist provides a seamless, overlay-based browsing experience.

The core feature is the "game-aware" tab. Microsoft's research indicates that a significant portion of PC gamers use browsers for assistance, progress tracking, music, or communication while playing. Edge Game Assist eliminates the need to switch between game and browser.

This in-game browser, accessible via the Windows Game Bar, integrates seamlessly with your existing Microsoft Edge profile. Your bookmarks, history, cookies, and autofill data are all readily available without requiring additional logins.

A standout feature is the intelligent suggestion of game guides and tips directly within the browser. This eliminates manual searches, streamlining the process of finding helpful information. Users can even pin this tab for real-time access to guides.

Currently, this automatic game-aware feature is limited to a selection of popular titles during its beta phase:
