Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game development studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its anticipated FPS title, Deadrop.
The studio shared the news via an X post, stating, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The post also included a plea for job opportunities for its talented team members.
Midnight Society, established by Beahm alongside Call of Duty and Halo veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, aimed to deliver a free-to-play FPS, Deadrop, leveraging the team's extensive experience. While targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop ultimately failed to meet its launch window.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor via Twitch Whispers, Midnight Society continued Deadrop's development until its recent termination.
Deadrop was envisioned within a unique, retro-futuristic setting described as "the 80s never ending." Promotional materials showcased characters sporting Daft Punk-inspired helmets, wielding a blend of firearms and melee weapons, suggesting a PvPvE extraction shooter gameplay style.
The closure of Midnight Society adds to the growing list of game studios facing challenges in the current industry climate, joining companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs that have also experienced layoffs or closures.
