NieR: Automata Fishing Guide: Reel in Rewards and Riches
NieR: Automata offers more than just android-machine warfare. Explore a less violent side with fishing, a completely optional activity that can yield surprising rewards. While it won't boost your combat level, fishing provides a quick and safe way to earn money and acquire rare items without engaging in combat.
How to Fish in NieR: Automata
Fishing is accessible in almost any body of water, even shallow areas. Simply stand still in the water; a fishing prompt will appear above your character. Hold the button to cast your Pod. Fishing uses a single button:
- PlayStation: O
- Xbox: B
- PC: Enter
After casting, wait for the Pod to be fully submerged with a distinct "plop" sound. Quickly press the reel-in button. Reaction time is crucial; a delayed response means losing your catch. You can cast repeatedly without limitations. A helpful plug-in chip displays a fishing icon in the top right corner when fishing is possible.
Rewards for Fishing in NieR: Automata
Most fish and junk items acquired through fishing are valuable commodities. Selling them provides a fast and safe method for accumulating early-game funds, particularly useful for upgrading plug-in chip capacity. Fishing in sewers offers a chance to obtain the Iron Pipe, a potentially powerful weapon.
