People Can Fly, renowned for developing Bulletstorm and co-developing Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to create a new game, codenamed Project Delta. According to a report released by People Can Fly, Project Delta is designated as a work-for-hire project, though specifics about the game remain under wraps.
The studio is juggling an impressive portfolio of projects with similar codenames. Alongside Project Delta, they are working on Project Gemini in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw 30 developers laid off last year. Other projects include Project Echo with Krafton, Project Red, which seems to be another partnership with Sony, and the VR-focused Project Bison. Just yesterday, People Can Fly announced that Project Bison would be their final venture into virtual reality.
Recent months have seen some shifts in their project lineup. Last December, the studio decided to suspend work on Project Victoria and scale down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier, in April, they announced the cancellation of Project Dagger, an action-adventure game developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these changes, People Can Fly remains busy with eight ongoing projects, including the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in collaboration with The Coalition. While a release date for Gears of War: E-Day has not been disclosed, Project Gemini, their project with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
