To catch Ditto in Pokémon GO, you must first identify its current disguises. This shape-shifting Pokémon has been in the game for years, its disguises changing periodically. This guide provides the most up-to-date information.
Ditto Disguises (March 2025)
Currently, Ditto disguises itself as Bergmite, Bidoof, Goldeen, Gothita, Koffing, Numel, Oddish, Rhyhorn, Solosis, Spinarak, and Stufful. (See image above.) Catching any of these Pokémon in the wild could reveal a hidden Ditto.
Upon capture, the disguised Pokémon will transform into Ditto on the catch screen. An "Oh?" will appear above your Poké Ball, signaling a successful Ditto capture.
Ditto Rarity
Even knowing its disguises, Ditto remains relatively rare. However, one clue helps identification: Ditto's CP is consistently lower than the Pokémon it's mimicking. For example, a level 50 trainer might encounter a Ditto with a max CP of around 940, compared to Goldeen's approximate 1302 max CP. Lower-than-expected CP increases your chances of finding a Ditto.
Shiny Ditto Rarity
The odds of encountering a Shiny Ditto are 1 in 64, making it exceptionally rare. Increasing Pokémon spawns with Incense and Lure Modules slightly improves your chances of finding both a regular and a Shiny Ditto. Even without paid items, your Daily Adventure Incense offers a short boost.
Now that you know Ditto's current disguises, use the latest Pokémon GO promo codes for extra items and explore other Pokémon GO evolutions to expand your Pokédex.
