Pokémon Sleep’s development is shifting gears! Select Button, the team behind the popular sleep-tracking app, is handing over the reins to Pokémon Works, a newly established Pokémon subsidiary. Let's delve into the details of this transition.
Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
From Select Button to Pokémon Works

Launched in March 2023, Pokémon Works, a new subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, has officially taken over development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep from Select Button. The announcement, initially appearing in a Japanese in-app notice, states that development and operation will gradually transition from Select Button to Pokémon Works. The global app's news section hasn't yet reflected this change.

While Pokémon Works' portfolio remains relatively unpublicized, their website reveals a founding partnership between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Intriguingly, they share a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME – a service to which Pokémon Works also contributed.
Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki's greeting emphasizes Pokémon Works' commitment to "creating an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." Exactly how this vision will shape Pokémon Sleep's future remains an exciting question.
