Pokémon GO consistently delivers a month-long roster of events, featuring the weekly Spotlight Hours, each showcasing a specific Pokémon with increased spawn rates and boosted shiny odds. Here's everything you need to know about this week's event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week features both Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, presenting a fantastic opportunity to catch and potentially obtain a Shiny of each. Both Pokémon offer significant advantages in battle, providing valuable damage output.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items significantly improve your chances of catching and evolving Shiny Pokémon. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage; you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex) is a Kanto region Pokémon. It can be traded and transferred to Pokémon HOME. Catching Voltorb rewards 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. Voltorb boasts a max CP of 1141, with 109 Attack and 111 Defense, making it a surprisingly potent attacker. As an Electric-type, it's weak against Ground-type moves (160% damage) but resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). Its optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits discovery.

Hisuian Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), also from Kanto, shares Voltorb's trade and transfer capabilities. It also evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies and yields 3 Candies and 100 Stardust upon capture. Stat-wise, it mirrors Voltorb (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack). While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type moves (63% damage), and other Electric-type moves (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), resulting in 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage output. Its Shiny variant features a black body instead of orange.
