Pokémon GO Celebrates 8th Anniversary with New Raids and Bonuses!

Pokémon GO's 8th Anniversary is just around the corner, set to start on Friday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. and continue through to Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Get ready for a week packed with exciting new Pokémon debuts, event bonuses, and opportunities to maximize your gains from raids and trades.

Here's What's In Store!

The festivities kick off with the introduction of new Pokémon sporting festive attire. Keep an eye out for Grimer and Muk donning party hats. If luck is on your side, you might even encounter a Shiny Grimer! Additionally, Meltan will have a shiny return if you engage with the Mystery Box during the event.

During Pokémon GO's 8th Anniversary, your chances of becoming Lucky Friends and obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trades will be significantly boosted. Friendship levels will soar faster than usual when you're opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together. Plus, spinning a PokéStop with a Golden Lure Module could net you 8 or even 88 Gimmighoul Coins.

The event also features special bonuses that are spread throughout the celebration. From June 28th to 29th, enjoy half the Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in Incubators. From June 30th to July 1st, earn double XP for catching Pokémon. And finally, from July 2nd to July 3rd, receive double Stardust for your catches.

The excitement doesn't stop there—one-star raids will feature festively dressed Pokémon with an increased chance of being shiny. Event-themed field research tasks will lead you to encounters with partner Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, and more. You'll also earn Mega Energy rewards for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert.

Additional events, such as Timed Research tasks and Whispers in the Woods Masterwork Research, are available for a small fee. You can find the complete list of these paid events on the official Pokémon GO website. Don't miss out on the adorable stickers and the special Anniversary Box available in the Pokémon GO web store—be sure to check them out!
