The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. Leading retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have launched these new listings today. If you're on the hunt for a complete system equipped with these cutting-edge GPUs, now is your prime chance to snag one. These opportunities won't come around again until major manufacturers like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) roll out their own models later in Q1.
If you're after a standalone GPU instead, you're in the wrong spot. Head over to our complete RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers will have them in stock. Be prepared, though: launch-day GPU stocks are notorious for selling out within hours or even minutes. Retailers have already cautioned about potential inventory shortages, and Nvidia's recent GPU launches have been plagued by bots snatching up units for resale at inflated prices.

Dell has launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. Currently available in only two configurations, both are paired with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a staggering $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.
Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis retains a design similar to the 2024 R16 system but features minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns and updated components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case instead of the front, and the tempered glass window covers the entire side panel. The side panel vents have been removed, and air intakes are now located at the bottom and front of the case. Alienware has adopted a positive airflow design, which typically results in a less dusty interior. The internal components have been refreshed, including a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Several retailers offer the option to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select built-to-order systems in their configurators. New RTX 50-series GPU configurations are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While these systems are readily available, keep in mind that build-to-order systems can be quite expensive and are generally the least cost-effective option.
The major OEM computer retailers won't equip their prebuilt gaming desktop PCs with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later this year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area 51 gaming PC, which we expect to launch in Q1. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 in its flagship Omen 45L, likely in mid or late February. Lenovo has yet to announce when it will start adding the new GPUs to its Legion Tower gaming desktops, so no launch date is currently available.
The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially announced at CES 2025, focusing on new and improved AI features rather than hardware-based raster performance. DLSS 4 technology is claimed to quadruple the frame rate with minimal visual compromise. While these new GPUs offer a modest performance boost, opinions are mixed on their value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offers a similar sentiment. "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 doesn’t make a lot of sense – it just doesn’t have much of a performance lead over the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do make things look better in games that support it. However, for gamers with an older graphics card who want a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 absolutely provides – doubly so if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI goodies."
