The unobtainable Promo Card 008 appeared around January 2025, creating a noticeable gap between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009) in the Promo – A Card Dex. While its existence might have been present earlier, it only recently became visible as a blank slot. This has left players eager to learn how to acquire it.
Although currently unobtainable, the card's appearance can be previewed. Accessing the "Related Cards" section for cards like Red Card (006) or Pokedex (004) reveals a greyed-out version of Promo Card 008. This alternate art Pokedex depicts a Pokedex surrounded by Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
The card's information indicates it will be "obtained from a campaign," similar to the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026). This differs from cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting a promotional giveaway.
The exact release date and method for obtaining Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain unknown. For players bothered by the incomplete collection, the option to hide unowned cards can be temporarily disabled.
