Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, adding a touch of darkness to its lineup of accessories. This collection includes the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds.

The collection's price points are as follows:

  • DualSense Edge wireless controller: $199.99
  • PlayStation Portal: $199.99
  • Pulse Explore wireless earbuds: $199.99
  • Pulse Elite wireless headset: $149.99

Pre-orders begin January 16th, 2025, at 10 AM ET, with a full launch scheduled for February 20th, 2025, exclusively through direct.playstation.com.

This announcement follows the excitement surrounding CES 2025 and adds to the anticipation surrounding potential PlayStation VR2 upgrades. The Midnight Black Collection offers a sophisticated alternative to the standard white PS5 accessories, providing a sleek aesthetic upgrade for gamers.

The DualSense Edge controller, in particular, receives a modern black makeover, complete with a matching carrying case. While the price of $199.99 for the controller and the Portal aligns with expectations, the Pulse Elite headset's $149.99 price tag represents a notable increase over its predecessor. Similarly, the Pulse Explore earbuds command a premium at $199.99. Both the headset and earbuds include a grey felt carrying case.

Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its themed DualSense controller offerings. Following the successful releases tied to God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, a limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller is now available for pre-order.

$199 at Amazon, $200 at Best Buy, $200 at GameStop, $199 at Walmart, $200 at Target
