Both the PS5 Pro and the Slim models offer modularity, allowing users to add a separately purchased disc drive. This has led to high demand, particularly in the US, where the disc drive has been scarce for months.

Despite the ongoing shortage, some retailers have restocked. As of January 15th, the disc drive is available at Amazon US and PlayStation Direct for the standard price of $79.99. A third-party seller on Walmart also offers it, but at a 50% markup ($122) and with limited stock.
