Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rumored for Version 5.4 Rerun After Over a Year
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley will finally receive his first rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release. This news comes amidst ongoing concerns regarding the game's banner scheduling, made challenging by the large roster of over 90 playable characters and limited rerun slots.
With a consistent release rate of approximately one new 5-star character per patch, the demand for reruns far exceeds the available banner space. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, it's been viewed by many as a temporary solution rather than a comprehensive fix, as evidenced by Shenhe's lengthy wait time for her rerun. Until the introduction of triple banners, extended rerun delays are likely to persist.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this problem. His absence from event banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for a chance to obtain him. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, points to Version 5.4 as his return. This aligns with a recent Spiral Abyss buff that enhances Wriothesley's gameplay, adding credibility to the rumor.
However, caution is advised. Flying Flame's track record with Natlan-related leaks has been inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on event banners, the remaining 5-star slots would likely be filled by either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025.
