The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, remains shrouded in uncertainty. Recent claims suggest the project may have been indefinitely halted, dashing the hopes of many fans. This news comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a veteran of the Syphon Filter series.
Smith, via his X account, alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has ceased completely, contradicting Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that work was ongoing. He claims some team members have been reassigned, while others have been laid off. Were this information to be confirmed, it would represent a significant setback for those eagerly awaiting the remake of this beloved RPG.
It’s important to note Smith’s track record. While he accurately predicted a Housemarque game announcement, his predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates proved inaccurate. Therefore, his claims should be viewed with a degree of caution.
As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not offered any official comment, leaving the future of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake uncertain.
