The visual novel genre remains underrepresented on mobile, with notable exceptions like the Methods series. Whether due to Western gamers' bias against the format or limited publisher interest in a traditionally PC-centric genre, Seedsow Lullaby aims to break the mold with its May 1st release on iOS and Android.
Seedsow Lullaby initially puzzles with its unconventional approach, offering a visual novel without choices or branching paths. "Isn't that the essence of a visual novel?" you might ask. Perhaps, but its unique premise may just compensate for this departure.
In Seedsow Lullaby, Misuzu, who lost her mother young, encounters a woman on her sixteenth birthday claiming to be her teenage mother. Tasked with conducting the Seedsow Ceremony to awaken ancient gods, Misuzu must also enlist her future daughter, pulled from time, to fulfill this destiny.
Live, Die, Rewind
Time travel is no stranger to visual novels, with titles like Steins;Gate setting the standard through intricate timelines and branching stories. Seedsow Lullaby, however, opts for a more linear exploration of the theme.
Though this simplicity may deter some, the narrative’s focus on life, death, and the inevitability of fate promises a compelling journey. Stay tuned for Seedsow Lullaby’s global launch.
