睡眠不足会在名为“睡眠格斗家”的新街头霸王锦标赛中对选手造成惩罚。本周早些时候宣布的这项官方卡普空支持的赛事由制药公司SS制药公司主办，旨在推广其助眠药物Drewell。
“睡眠格斗家”锦标赛是一项团队赛事，每个团队由三名选手组成，他们将进行“三局两胜”的比赛，以积累最多的积分并获得胜利。积分最高的队伍将晋级下一轮。除了通过胜利获得积分外，队伍还将根据其记录的睡眠时间获得“睡眠积分”。
在“睡眠格斗家”锦标赛前的一周，每位队员每晚必须至少睡六个小时。如果一个团队的总睡眠时间未达到126小时，他们将因每少睡一小时而损失五分。作为额外的奖励，总睡眠时间最长的队伍将决定锦标赛的比赛条件。
SS制药公司正在推广这项活动，以证明睡眠的重要性，该公司表示，充足的睡眠对于以最佳状态发挥至关重要。他们的活动口号是“让我们接受挑战，让我们先睡个好觉”，旨在提高人们对睡眠的认识，并鼓励日本养成健康的睡眠习惯。根据官方网站，睡眠格斗家是第一个将睡眠不足作为惩罚规则纳入其中的电子竞技锦标赛。
