Star Wars Outlaws: A Tribute to Hondo Ohnaka's Pirate Legacy

Jun 17,2025 Author: Scarlett

Star Wars Outlaws has launched its first story-driven DLC, A Pirate’s Fortune, now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. At the heart of this expansion is everyone’s favorite Weequay pirate, Hondo Ohnaka, whose charismatic presence adds a fresh twist to the game's narrative.

Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft Massive Entertainment, explained that the idea for the DLC came directly from the team's deep appreciation for Hondo. Known for his appearances in the Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Hondo brings his signature charm and unpredictability to the world of Outlaws.

“We always knew we had to include Hondo because so many people on the team are passionate about him,” Rechner shared with IGN. “Pairing Kay’s scoundrel persona with Hondo’s pirate flair just made sense. It was a natural fit.”

He also teased how the relationship between Kay and Hondo unfolds throughout the DLC. “We also knew that Kay would be coming into her own—learning what it means to be a leader—and then having someone like Hondo as a mentor—or is he? That dynamic opens up some really interesting storytelling possibilities.”

The A Pirate’s Fortune DLC introduces an all-new adventure centered around the Rokana Raiders crime gang, alongside the Miyuki Trade League, which offers valuable upgrades for Kay’s Trailblazer ship. Players will also gain access to a new blaster ability called Shock, expanding combat options in thrilling ways.

In other news, Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While details remain under wraps, Rechner hinted that more information about potential platform-specific features will be revealed in the future.

When asked whether the Switch 2’s unique capabilities would influence gameplay, Rechner remained coy: “In terms of a specific feature set, that’s something we’ll get into later. There’s definitely more to talk about down the line.”

Potential enhancements could include utilizing the Switch 2’s versatile controllers as a mouse or taking advantage of the system’s new GameChat functionality—features that could further enhance the immersive experience of navigating the galaxy far, far away.

Stay tuned for more updates as the journey through Star Wars continues to evolve.
