SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Pizza Tower’, ‘Castlevania Dominus Collection’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Jan 26,2025 Author: Christopher

Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's a great thing! We've got news, a look at the eShop's new arrivals, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. Highlights include surprise game launches (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remakes, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a comprehensive overview.

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection joins the lineup, a welcome surprise from the Direct. This compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously bad arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This is a high-quality release with excellent emulation and numerous desirable features, offering incredible value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch as another Direct surprise. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will especially appreciate this title, but it's also a solid choice for platforming enthusiasts in general. A review is pending.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases continue! Goat Simulator 3 brings its signature chaotic gameplay to the Switch. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (given challenges on more powerful systems), the inherent absurdity of the game might even complement any potential performance issues. It's a game of silly goats and mayhem in an open world—proceed with caution.

Peglin ($19.99)

I believe EA missed a significant opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to the Switch. However, Peglin provides a worthy alternative for Peggle fans. This mobile hit now graces the Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a licensed twist to its simulation formula with Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story. This standard Kairosoft shop simulator features characters from the popular Doraemon franchise, with cameos from the manga artist's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can enjoy local or online multiplayer in this cooperative puzzle game. While enjoyable, it doesn't offer enough significant changes to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio. Simple but enjoyable for its price point.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing challenges.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
