Despite the cancellation of the live-action Driver TV series, Ubisoft confirms continued development of other projects within the franchise. Read on for details.
Ubisoft Remains Active on Future Driver Projects
Ubisoft has officially confirmed with Game File the cancellation of its live-action adaptation of the Driver series of action-adventure driving games. Initially announced in 2021 for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader initiative to expand its game franchises into new media. As stated by Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik, the goal was "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
The collaboration ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary (named after the Driver protagonist), in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
However, Ubisoft assures fans that "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" are underway, promising future announcements. Specific details remain undisclosed at this time. Stay tuned for further Driver news!
