This week, the Pocket Gamer App Army tackled the puzzle adventure A Fragile Mind from Glitch Games. Reactions were mixed. While some praised the challenging puzzles and witty humor, others found the presentation lacking.
A Fragile Mind blends classic escape room mechanics with a humorous twist. We asked our App Army testers for their opinions:
Initially, the game's icon seemed uninspiring. However, the gameplay proved surprisingly unique and engaging, offering a fresh take on puzzle adventures. The puzzles were challenging but rewarding. A standout puzzle game, best experienced on a tablet for optimal play.
This point-and-click puzzle adventure features static pre-rendered graphics. The narrative is unclear. Each level presents increasingly complex puzzles. Interestingly, you can progress without solving every puzzle on a given floor; some require items found on subsequent levels. The game includes humorous fourth-wall breaks. While the hint system is helpful, it's perhaps overly generous. Navigation could be improved, especially between interconnected rooms. Overall, a solid example of the genre.
A Fragile Mind is a first-person puzzle adventure where the player awakens in a building's garden with amnesia. Gameplay involves exploring, taking photos, and solving puzzles using discovered clues. While the graphics and sound are functional, the puzzles are challenging and may require walkthrough assistance. The game's brevity limits replayability.
While enjoying escape-room style games, this title fell short. The presentation is muddy, hindering puzzle identification. UI design choices, such as the menu button placement, add to the frustration. The pacing is also flawed, offering too many puzzles initially. The hint system was frequently needed.
Despite usually disliking puzzle games due to difficulty and perceived low reward, this game was enjoyable. The visuals and audio options were appreciated, as was the hint system. A satisfying, albeit short, experience.
The gameplay is described using a spoiler-free circus analogy. The game is characterized by a high density of interwoven puzzles. Note-taking is advised. Plays well on Android. Includes numerous visual and sound options, along with good accessibility features. A fun, albeit brief, experience with humorous elements.
