Xbox Game Pass is losing six games on January 15th, potentially impacting subscribers who rely on the service for multiplayer games. The service typically removes games mid-month and at the end of the month. A previous removal wave occurred on December 31st.

Another six games are leaving within the next 24 hours. These include Escape Academy, Those Who Remain, Exoprimal, Insurgency: Sandstorm, Figment: Journey Into the Mind, and Common'hood.

Half of the games leaving in this first wave of 2025 departures are multiplayer titles. Exoprimal and Insurgency: Sandstorm are multiplayer-only shooters, while Escape Academy features a well-received co-op mode. Escape Academy has been available on Xbox Game Pass the longest, since July 2022.

Escape Academy's Departure and Epic Games Store Availability

Game removal times vary, but most titles leave around the end of the day. US subscribers have approximately 18 hours remaining to play these games. This allows ample time to complete shorter titles like Figment: Journey Into the Mind, Those Who Remain, and Escape Academy. However, only console players need to rush to play Escape Academy, as the PC version will be free on the Epic Games Store starting January 16th.

The next wave of Xbox Game Pass removals is expected on January 31st. The departing titles will likely be announced alongside the January 2025 Wave 2 lineup, which includes day-one releases like Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. Further announcements are anticipated during the Xbox Developer Direct on January 23rd.
